Independent, third-party certification of organic food systems has been the foundation of domestic and international organic food trade. QAI Organic Certification is designed to certify every step of the organic chain: from the land on which the product is grown; to the producers growing the product; to the post-harvest facilities preparing the product; to the processing and handling facilities transforming the product.

Step 1 – Application for QAI Certification
The application phase allows you to provide QAI with details about your organic operation. By using QAI’s innovative and user friendly forms, you will begin a streamlined and thorough certification process. The application phase enables QAI’s certification experts to understand the scope of your operation, the procedures you follow and the products processed, labeled, handled and/or traded by your company.

Step 2 – The Inspection
Your annual on-site inspection consists of an evaluation of the operation. During this visit, the inspector will verify the information you provided during the application process.

Step 3 – Technical Review
During technical review, a QAI technical expert is assigned to evaluate the operation and to ensure that it complies with the applicable regulation.

Step 4 – Resolution and Notification
Once QAI notifies you of any non-compliances, you will have the opportunity to provide resolution to these issues. For clients with minor non-compliances, a certificate will be provided and responses will be required prior to annual renewal. For clients with major non-compliances, those situations where the organic integrity of the product is at risk, corrections or improvements are required before certification is granted.

Step 5 – Certification
All QAI Certified Entities receive an official numbered certificate. This document will remain in good standing as long as you remain in good standing with the certification program. You can now proudly display the QAI mark of excellence, considered the industry’s most widely recognized certification mark, on your compliant certified organic products.
