EU Organic Regulations
Scope
The QAI EU program includes Producer, Processor, Distributor, Trader, and Warehouse. We do not currently have an EU Livestock or an EU Dairy Program.
On January 1, 2009, Council Regulation (EEC) 2092/91 was repealed and replaced by Council Regulation (EC) 834/2007. This framework regulation works in conjunction with its implementation rules - Commission Regulation (EC) 889/2008.

Certain compliance issues are, however, written into these documents with controls that are European-based. To take into account systemic differences outside of Europe, your EU certification is also assessed by using the Equivalent European Union Organic Production & Processing Standard for Third Countries (2009).

Updated EU Information
While the two principle regulations do not change, the EU can and does issue amendments to the regulations. QAI will alert clients to any significant changes. Amendments may be found by accessing Eur-Lex here: http://eur-lex.europa.eu/en/tools/sitemap.htm.
The UK Ministry, Defra, also regularly updates information regarding regulation amendments. You may access this information here: http://www.defra.gov.uk/FARM/ORGANIC/standards/index.htm.
